Alumni come home to reminisce and share insights on their alma mater’s future development

On April 8, more than 50 representatives from 16 alumni chapters, including Shenzhen Alumni Chapter and Guangzhou Alumni Chapter, gathered together to reminisce about their college life and offer suggestions for the development of their alma mater at a springtime tea party hosted by the General Alumni Association of South China Business College at the International Conference Hall.  Chair of the Board Ding Xiaojun, also president of the General Alumni Association, and Fu Hongxin, deputy secretary of the CPC committee of SCBC and vice president of the General Alumni Association, were present at the tea party. The event was resided by Lai Zhili, vice president of SCBC and the General Alumni Association.

Fu Hongxin delivered a speech, saying that as the year 2023 marks a critical juncture of SCBC's separation from its parent institution, SCBC will, in the spirit of perseverance, spare no efforts to keep up its hard work in its comprehensive reform  and the second phase construction projects, endeavoring to create more achievements as its response to the love and dedication from all walks of life and all alumni. He said that alumni are a precious asset held dear to SCBC whose development is the result of the concerted efforts of all alumni and their alma mater, and the future of SCBC will continue to call for their dedication.

Weng Lin, secretary-general of the General Alumni Association, reported on its work of 2022 in terms of the development of publicity channels, the building of alumni culture brand, the establishment of new alumni chapters, and the improvement of alumni services. She put forward new goals for the General Alumni Association in 2023: it will continue to organize more alumni brand activities, to establish more alumni chapters, such as Zhuhai-Australia Alumni Chapter, Huizhou Alumni Chapter, Australia Alumni Chapter and more, and to hold reflection for some alumni chapters whose tenures have come to end. The General Alumni Association will further play the role of a bridge to better serve the alumni chapters and all alumni.

Based on their own experiences and their understanding of the current market demand, the Internet environment and the development of artificial intelligence, representatives of each alumni chapter offered valuable opinions and suggestions on how to integrate different resources, improve student training and enhance core competitiveness around foreign language education for SCBC. They hope to build the alumni chapters into a platform for alumni to reminisce and cooperate so that the alumni can be more united to help the development of their alma mater.

Ding Xiaojun gave a concluding remark. He believed that SCBCers are all over the world, but no matter where they are, their hearts are linked together. The General Alumni Association has but one goal and one wish, that is, to set up new alumni chapters as soon as the time is right at home and abroad, so that SCBCers can come “home in every corner of the country and even around the world. Their alma mater is proud of all alumni and will always be there for them. SCBC  will continue to strengthen ties with alumni and share with them the growth and development achieved together in the future.
