我国社会主要矛盾
The Principal Contradiction in Chinese Society
社会主要矛盾是处于支配地位，在社会发展过程一定阶段上起主导作用的矛盾。社会主要矛盾的存在和发展，规定或影响着社会非主要矛盾的存在和发展。社会主要矛盾不是一成不变的，它在一定条件下会发生转化。新时代我国社会主要矛盾是人民日益增长的美好生活需要和不平衡不充分的发展之间的矛盾。坚持以人民为中心，是科学分析我国社会主要矛盾新变化的重要战略思想。
The principal contradiction in society is the one that occupies a dominant position and plays a leading role in a certain stage of social development. It determines and influences the existence and development of the non-principal contradiction of society. The principal contradiction of society is not invariable, which would transform under certain conditions. The principal contradiction facing Chinese society in the new era is that between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people’s ever-growing need for a better life. People-centered development is an important strategic concept for scientifically analyzing new changes in China’s major social contradictions.

People-centered Development
以人民为中心是我们“党立党为公、执政为民”的生动体现，是全心全意为人民服务根本宗旨的时代彰显。人民性是马克思主义最鲜明的品格，人民立场是马克思主义政党的根本政治立场。我们党自成立之日起，就把“人民”二字铭刻在心，把坚持人民利益高于一切鲜明地写在自己的旗帜上。
Taking the people as the center is a vivid manifestation of the Party’s commitment to serve the public good and exercising power in the interests of people, and a perfect demonstration of the era of the fundamental purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly. People-centered nature is the most distinctive part of Marxism’s character, and siding with the people is the fundamental political stance of Marxist parties. Since the establishment of our party, we have engraved the word “people” in our hearts, and clearly inscribing the principle of putting the interests of the people above everything on the party’s banner.
全过程人民民主
The Whole Process of People's Democracy
全过程人民民主，实现了过程民主和成果民主、程序民主和实质民主、直接民主和间接民主、人民民主和国家意志相统一，是全链条、全方位、全覆盖的民主，是最广泛、最真实、最管用的社会主义民主。
The whole-process people’s democracy realizes a comprehensive and all-round democracy that encompasses process democracy and outcome democracy, procedural democracy and substantive democracy, direct democracy and indirect democracy, as well as the unity of people’s democracy and the will of the state. It is an extensive, genuine, and effective socialist democracy that covers the entire chain and all aspects.
全体人民共同富裕
Common Prosperity of All People
我们说的共同富裕是全体人民共同富裕，是人民群众物质生活和精神生活都富裕，不是少数人的富裕，也不是整齐划一的平均主义。
The common prosperity we are talking about refers to the prosperity shared by all the people, where both their material and spiritual needs are met. It is not the prosperity of a few individuals, nor is it uniformity and egalitarianism.
新时代发展历史
New History
2012年11月，习总书记在中国共产党第十八届政治局会见中外记者时提出，人民对美好生活的向往是我们的目标，我们应该坚定不移地追求共同富裕。In November 2012, General Secretary Xi Jinping, during a meeting with Chinese and foreign journalists at the 18th Political Bureau of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), advocated that people’s aspirations for a better life are our goal and we should unwaveringly pursue common prosperity.
2015年10月26日至29日，党的十八届五中全会在北京召开。全会通过的《中共中央关于制定国民经济和社会发展第十三个五年规划的建议》强调，必须坚持以人民为中心的发展思想，把增进人民福祉、促进人的全面发展作为发展的出发点和落脚点，发展人民民主，维护社会公平正义，保障人民平等参与、平等发展权利，充分调动人民积极性、主动性、创造性。
From October 26th to 29th, 2015, the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee was held in Beijing. The session passed the “Proposals of the CPC Central Committee for Formulating the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development”, which emphasized the need to adhere to the people-centered development philosophy, take enhancing people’s well-being and promoting their all-round development as the starting point and foothold of development, develop people’s democracy, maintain social fairness and justice, protect people’s equal rights to participate in and enjoy development, and fully stimulate the enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity of the people.
党的十九届五中全会于2020年10月26日至29日在北京举行。习总书记提出“到2035年全体人民共同富裕取得更为明显的实质性进展”，这是我党又一个重要阶段性发展目标。
The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was held in Beijing from October 26 to 29, 2020. General Secretary Xi further proposed that “noticeable substantive progress will be made in promoting common prosperity for all the people,” noticeable substantive progress will be made in promoting common prosperity for all the people.

Mission and Responsibility
作为当代青年，要牢记习总书记教导，践行以人民为中心的发展思想。践行以人民为中心的发展理念，坚持人民至上的执行理念，就是要在思想上充分认识到人民群众是我党的执政之源、力量之基。党的根基在人民、血脉在人民、力量在人民，人民是党执政兴国的最大底气。党的百年历史，就是一部践行党的初心使命的历史，就是一部党与广大人民群众心连心、同呼吸、共命运的历史。
As contemporary youth, we must bear in mind the teaching of General Secretary Xi Jinping and practice the people-centered development philosophy. Practicing this concept means adhering to the implementation principle of putting people first. This requires us to fully recognize that the people are the source of our Party’s governance and the foundation of our strength. The Party’s foundation, bloodline, and strength lie in the people, and the people are the biggest confidence for the Party’s governance and national rejuvenation. The Party’s century-long history embodies its original mission and is a history of the Party working hand in hand with the vast masses of the people, breathing the same air and sharing the same destiny.

为践行以人民为中心的发展思想，5月10日-11日，我校执行校长王华教授在校园咖啡厅，分别与教工、教师和学生团体代表进行座谈，为大家应需、解惑、纾困。这种座谈形式聚焦学校内部问题，加强了与基层群众的联系，让学生和教职工充分发表意见，让学校管理者深入了解他们的需求，从而更好地落实和贯彻对人民群众最关心、最直接、最现实的利益问题的解决方案。因此，这是以人民为中心的新体现，有效促进了学校的民主建设和治理水平提升。
To put the people-centered development philosophy into practice, on May 10th-11th, the acting president of our university, Professor Wang Hua, held discussions with representatives of faculty, teachers, and students in the campus coffee shop, listening to their concerns, answering questions, and offering solutions. The discussions focused on internal issues of the university, strengthened connections with grassroots masses, enabled students and faculty members to fully express their opinions, and helped school administrators better understand their needs. As a result, it represents a new embodiment of the people-centered development philosophy, effectively promoting the democratic construction and governance level of the university.
以人民为中心思想把人民作为实践主体、认识主体、价值主体、历史主体，始终坚持人民立场，坚信党的根基和力量在人民，体现出中国共产党人的治国理念和执政实践。在实现中华民族伟大复兴中国梦的历史进程中，我们必须坚持以人民为中心，用推进中国特色社会主义伟大事业的辉煌成就，向人民交上一份成绩优异的答卷。
The people-centered philosophy regards the people as the subject of practice, perception, value, and history. It always adheres to the standpoint of the people and firmly believes that the foundation and strength of the Party lie in the people. This embodies the governing philosophy and practices of the Communist Party of China. In the historical process of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the Chinese Dream, we must adhere to the people-centered philosophy and present an outstanding achievement report to the people through promoting the glorious achievements of advancing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
