中国式现代化新道路，是全面建成社会主义现代化强国、实现中华民族伟大复兴的必由之路。中国式现代化是人口规模巨大的现代化，是全体人民共同富裕的现代化，是物质文明和精神文明相协调的现代化，是人与自然和谐共生的现代化，是走和平发展道路的现代化。
The path of Chinese modernization is the only way to comprehensively build a modern socialist country and achieve great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Chinese modernization is the modernization of a huge population, of common prosperity for all, of material and cultural-ethical advancement, of harmony between humanity and nature, and of peaceful development.
在政治上体现为坚持中国共产党领导；在经济上体现为坚持社会主义市场经济，走共同富裕道路；在文化上体现为坚持以人民为中心，促进物质文明与精神文明协调发展；在社会上体现为坚持公平正义，推动社会全面进步和人的全面发展；在生态上坚持人与自然和谐共生。
Chinese path to modernization is reflected in upholding the CPC’s leadership, building the socialist market economy and pursuing a path of common prosperity, advocating the people-centered philosophy of development, promoting coordinated development of material and spiritual civilization, upholding fairness and justice, promoting comprehensive social progress and the development of individuals, ensuring harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
中国式现代化是人口规模巨大的现代化，其艰巨性和复杂性前所未有，发展途径和推进方式也必然具有自己的特点。中国式现代化是中国共产党领导的社会主义现代化，既有各国现代化的共同特征，更有基于自己国情的中国特色。其中最基本的经验，就是中国道路既要符合中国国情，也要坚持社会主义。
Chinese path to modernization is a large-scale modernization with unprecedented difficulty and complexity, and its development path and promotion approach is bound to have their own unique characteristics. Chinese path to modernization is the socialist modernization led by the Communist Party of China, not only sharing common features with other modern countries but also lying on a foundation of China’s unique national conditions. The most basic experience of this is that China’s development path must not only conform to China’s actual conditions but also adhere to socialism.
中国现代化建设的模式，一方面体现了人类现代化发展的普遍性和规律性，借鉴了人类文明发展成果；另一方面，中国现代化建设具有中国特色社会主义现代化发展的独特性和超越性，中国式现代化道路摆脱了战争与掠夺、殖民与扩张的发展模式，突破了“外围-中心”体系，实现和平发展。
The model for China’s modernization, on the one hand, reflects not only the universality and regularity of human modernization development but also draws upon the achievements of human civilization development. On the other hand, it possesses the uniqueness and superiority of Chinese-style socialist modernization development. The Chinese path to modernization breaks free from the development models of war and plunder, colonization, and expansion, overcomes the “periphery-center” system, and achieves peaceful development.

New History
1979年3月21日，邓小平同志在会见英中文化协会执行委员会代表团时第一次提出“中国式的四个现代化”的全新概念，强调“我们要实现的四个现代化，是中国式的四个现代化”。
On March 21, 1979, Deng Xiaoping put forward the new concept of “The Four Modernizations with Chinese characteristics” for the first time, emphasizing that we need to achieve modernization in industry, agriculture, national defense, and science and technology with Chinese characteristics.
党的十八大以来，中国共产党继续推动中国现代化事业发展，全面建成小康社会、加快推进社会主义现代化的宏伟蓝图，习近平总书记深刻指出“我们推进的现代化，是中国共产党领导的社会主义现代化”。
Since its 18th National Congress, the CPC has continued to promote the development of China’s modernization cause, promoting the grand blueprint of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society and accelerating socialist modernization. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out profoundly that “the modernization we are advancing is the socialist modernization led by the Communist Party of China.”
习近平总书记在党的十九大报告中对全面建成社会主义现代化强国做出战略部署，总的战略安排是分两步走：从2020年到2035年基本实现社会主义现代化；从2035年到本世纪中叶把我国建成富强民主文明和谐美丽的社会主义现代化强国。
In the report of the 19th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping made strategic arrangements for the construction of a modern socialist country. The overall strategic plan is divided into two steps: by the year 2035, China will realize socialist modernization, and by the middle of the 21st century, when the People’s Republic of China celebrates its centenary, China will have developed into a great and modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful.
2022年10月16日，中国共产党第二十次全国代表大会在北京人民大会堂开幕。习近平代表第十九届中央委员会向大会作报告。习近平在报告中指出，从现在起，中国共产党的中心任务就是团结带领全国各族人民全面建成社会主义现代化强国、实现第二个百年奋斗目标，以中国式现代化全面推进中华民族伟大复兴。
Xi delivered a report to the 20th CPC National Congress on behalf of the 19th CPC Central Committee at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on October 16, 2022. “From this day forward, the central task of the CPC will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted effort to realize the Second Centenary Goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization,” Xi said in the report.

新时代青年要深刻领悟“中国式现代化是人口规模巨大的现代化，是全体人民共同富裕的现代化，是物质文明和精神文明相协调的现代化，是人与自然和谐共生的现代化，是走和平发展道路的现代化”的丰富内涵，用之武装头脑、指导实践、推动工作，让理论之光照亮中国式现代化道路上青春奋进的脚步。
The youth of the new era should deeply understand the rich connotation of Chinese modernization is the modernization of a huge population, of common prosperity for all, of material and cultural-ethical advancement, of harmony between humanity and nature, and of peaceful development, by which they can arm their minds, guide their practices, and promote their work and make the youthful progress toward Chinese path to modernization.

6月1日下午，由南国商学院大学英语教学部主办、南国CEO大学英语学会承办的第16届“南国杯”理解当代中国大学英语演讲比赛决赛在F101学术报告厅成功举行。本届“南国杯”理解当代中国大学英语演讲比赛以 “My understanding of Chinese Path to Modernization （我眼中的中国式现代化）”为主题。
On June 1st, 2023, the final round of the 16th “Nanguo Cup” Understanding Contemporary China College English Speech Contest, organized by the SCBC College English Department and the Nanguo College English Organization (CEO), was successfully held. The theme of this year’s contest was “My understanding of Chinese Path to Modernization”.

比赛中，选手们以共同富裕、消除贫困、家乡现代化建设、传统中医的现代发展等为内容，向在座的评委老师和观赛同学们讲述着他们眼中的中国式现代化，传递着属于年青一代的中国声音。选手们高超的演讲技巧，言语中流露出的对祖国的热爱、对中国式现代化的深刻理解，针对刁钻问题机敏自信的回答，充分地展现了南国学子用英语向世界讲好中国故事的优秀外语能力。
The 20 contestants talked about their understanding of Chinese path modernization in terms of common prosperity, poverty alleviation, hometown modernization construction, and the modern development of traditional Chinese medicine, conveying the voice of the younger generation of understanding China. Their outstanding speaking skills, their love for the motherland and their profound understanding of the Chinese path to modernization. Their quick and confident responses to tough questions from the judge fully demonstrated SCBC students’ excellent foreign language ability to tell China’s story to the world in English.

“南国杯”大学英语演讲比赛历史悠久，到目前为止已成功举办了16届，是南国校内最具有影响力的外语赛事之一，旨在促进南国学子的综合英语运用能力，营造出更好的英语学习氛围，展现我校学生的良好英语学习风貌。
The “Nanguo Cup” College English Speech Contest has a long history. So far, 16 sessions have been successfully held. It is one of the most influential foreign language events at SCBC. The contest aims to improve students’ comprehensive English application ability, create a better English learning atmosphere, and showcase our students’ good English learning style.
